Mad River United Competitive Soccer Volunteer Program

Thank you so much for your willingness to help our competitive soccer program by volunteering this season!! The league has been spread too thin over the last few seasons (20 or so), with the same few people sitting on the B.O.D. (Board of Directors) , lining fields, coaching rec. teams, doing hours worth of paper work and emails, handling equipment, “putting out fires,” field marshalling, selling concessions, ETC. It is no wonder that our burn-out rate has been severe, and frankly, we’re amazed the BOD divorce rates haven’t been higher. By asking each able family to donate 10 hours of time or $100 that we can use to pay someone to do some of our long list of needs, we truly hope to be a better-functioning, higher-achieving organization. It has always been our goal to offer your kids the best soccer possible, and with a little more help, we hope to do that more effectively. We know that our families are busy and that finances are tight, and the point is not to add stress to your lives HOWEVER we truly need your help. All of the BOD and most of the rest of us are volunteers who can’t afford (financially or emotionally) to donate the hours-upon-hours that we have been to the league. If we don’t get some more help or revenue to pay for help, we will be sunk. We all love this game, and thank you in advance for your willingness to pitch in and help us make this the best possible experience it can be for our children!!

So, here is how the new volunteer program will work: we are asking each competitive family to donate 10 hours (or complete one job) or pay an additional $100 per season to the league.

If your family is financially-unable to do either, you can fill out a hardship waiver.

All families who haven’t signed a hardship waiver or completed most of their job by the end of August will be asked to pay the additional $100 (due August 31st) to their team treasurer. That fee will be refunded by the league treasurer when your hours are signed off and turned in.

Each job will have a designated contact person—that person will be able to tell you how to successfully complete that job, and will be the person who signs off on your hours.
